One of the best parts about being on this trip is having the time to reconnect with some old friends. One of my buds from high school invited us to come stay with him and his family on Labor Day weekend. Ends up he lives on a beautiful island next to the Naval base that he commands. Very cool stuff!!! Proud of him!!
Marrowstone Island... We kept our Clothes on :)
Mr. and Mrs. Yesunas :) The best hosts ever!! :)
We had fresh caught crabs for lunch and shrimp tacos for dinner..yummy!! Washed down with some amazing Belgian beer, that Erik is still talking about. :) Not to mention the little welcome notes left by their wonderful children on our nightstands. How cute is that!!??
After dinner we took a walk along the beach, while the kids played "survival" on the beach. They were making dinner from crushed crab shell and building a fire to "cook" it on.
Having fun!! The kids could have played on the beach for hours!
They played, "Let's Bury Autumn In the Sand." Autumn was having a blast!
"Lump on a Log." Auty laid there forever. So funny. :)
The next morning on our way back home, we all stopped at the farmer's market. They had the BEST blueberries ever!!
Saying goodbye is always hard. Joss was so sad to leave everyone, especially Mary Grace.
Erik and Mike the morning before we left. Thank you Yesunas family for one of the best weekends we had in a long time!!
On our way back home we stopped in Port Townsend and saw the boat that once belonged to John Steinbeck. It was full of barnacles (he was a better writer than sailor). The town of Port Townsend was very pretty and quaint.
