We finally got some really beautiful days filled with sun and warmth! We decided to go inland a little to get even warmer and to escape the possibility of the ocean mist covering the only sun we have seen in quite a few days. We traveled about 30 minutes inland to Lake Quinault in the Olympic National Forest.
Here is the Lodge on Lake Quinault which was just beautiful and so serene. It actually felt like we were in the Adirondack Mountains.
View of the lake from the lodge.
Took a little stroll around part of the lake. Perfect weather!
Next we hiked over to the WORLD'S largest Spruce Tree! It was 1013 year old! Erik was in shock :)
Playing on the tree. It makes Erik look sooo small :)
After taking this family photo we were all covered in sap. Autumn was a little scared not knowing why her hands were sticking to everything she touched.
This picture shows just how big the tree really is. They said that the trees out here can reach such ages because of the 12 FEET! of rain they get a year out in the Olympic Forest. This tree was just one of many of the oldest and biggest trees you will find.
