The Paddle to Quinault is a canoe journey that many Indian Tribes make to revitalize the tradition of canoeing that has been lost for many years. We had no idea this event, which happens every ten years at this location, Quinault Indian Reservation, was even happening prior to our stay. We took full advantage of it. They had shuttles set up in town that left every 30 minutes and brought you to the ceremonies and vendor stands on the Indian Reservation. The kids had a blast riding in a school bus and looking at Indian artwork and crafts. We also made it to one of the ceremonies (Cherokee Indian), which was very so special to watch.
The beautiful Totem Pol that greeted you as your entered the festivities.
Met a really nice family from Italy who took our picture for us. They happened to stumble upon this amazing event just like we did.
A man chanting beautiful words of living with nature and respecting all that surrounds us. Very powerful.
Autumn shaking some handmade rattles
Joss not so sure about what she is seeing. It looked like a rattle made out of a turtle shell and another rattle with a handle made of coyote (I think) foot.
Auty playing with a spear.
Auty found a walking stick.
